The news on the radio this morning says that we are (almost) guaranteed a white Christmas for 2010. I’m in two minds if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
As a parent of an excitable 4 year old it’s great. I can’t think of many things better than making snowmen with my family. I can’t wait to go sledging!
The adult in me says bar humbug, it’s cold, it’s wet and it’s cold. Plus my Amazon deliveries are taking much longer than usual. I don’t like it! It was -15C here last week and that’s as cold as my freezer. Global warming has a lot to live up to I tell you. The roads become death traps and my local council had deemed virtually every road I use as a non-priority, i.e. no need to grit. Despite all this I still have to go to work (although many colleagues who live closer think they don’t have to!)
In general I’m much more a summer person than a winter person. I need to see if I still have enough points to emigrate to Oz!
Is it just me or has winter come early this year? It’s brass monkies out there!
Well due to the recent inclement weather I managed to slip on black ice and fall badly on my left ankle. When I hit the floor I had some nice white flashes and nausea, leading me to believe I had broken something.
As it turns out my ankle was simply sprained, (it has now gone a rather fetching shade of black and purple). I was surprised at the time though as a few bystanders rushed to assist me with one good Samaritan picking me up off the floor and helping me to a bench. A few shopkeepers rallied around and called for assistance and in no time at all a security guard turned up asking if I needed an ambulance. As i’m a big strong man (cough) I declined the ambulance but the response was heartwarming. It reaffirmed my belief in the human species.
Between my recent experience of excellent customer service and now good Samaritans, I’ve got a warm fuzzy feeling inside which may be because it’s Christmas (or because of the painkillers I’m taking for my sprain)
